Lt Col (Hony) Mohanlal receives Army Commendation for social contribution

The Chief of Army Staff today felicitated Lt Col (Honorary) Mohanlal, one of India’s most distinguished film icons and an Honorary Officer of the Indian Army, acknowledging his exceptional service to society and his long-standing commitment to the Armed Forces.

Conferred with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army in May 2009, Mohanlal has maintained a deep and meaningful connection with the Indian Army, embodying the core values of service, discipline, and national pride. His commitment was especially evident during his voluntary participation in the relief operations following the Wayanad natural disaster in August 2024.

Beyond his cinematic achievements, Lt Col (Hony) Mohanlal has been a passionate advocate for social causes through the ViswaSanthi Foundation, which actively supports initiatives in education, healthcare, skill development, environmental conservation, and community welfare across India.

Inspiring millions across the country, Mohanlal's remarkable career spans over four decades and more than 400 films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi cinema. He has been honoured with the Padma Shri (2001), Padma Bhushan (2019), and Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2025).

In recognition of his spirit of service, philanthropy, and unwavering respect for the uniform, the Chief of Army Staff presented Lt Col (Hony) Mohanlal with the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card .
