Football fever is sweeping across Kerala ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, and students at CMSLP School in Vechoochira, Pathanamthitta, joined the celebrations in a unique and eco-friendly way. As part of the school's 'One Goal, One Dream' event, children arrived wearing jerseys of their favourite football teams, cheering for global stars and embracing the spirit of the world's biggest sporting spectacle.

The highlight of the event was a giant replica of Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, standing over eight feet tall and constructed entirely from eco-bricks made using discarded plastic waste. According to school authorities, 448 plastic bottle blocks packed with waste materials were used to create the structure.

Organisers said the initiative aimed to combine FIFA World Cup excitement with lessons on recycling, sustainability and environmental protection. By linking football with responsible waste management, the school hopes to inspire young students to adopt eco-friendly habits while celebrating the beautiful game.
