Kathakali mesmerises Kochi students as SPIC MACAY brings Kerala's heritage alive
Kerala's iconic Kathakali, one of India's most celebrated classical dance-drama traditions, captivated young students at Bhavan's Vidya Mandir in Elamakkara, Kochi, as SPIC MACAY organised a special cultural performance to promote India's rich artistic heritage.
With elaborate costumes, vibrant makeup, expressive facial movements and powerful storytelling, the all-women troupe presented Dakshayagam, portraying King Daksha's pride and Lord Shiva's divine justice. Students watched with fascination, closely following every gesture and expression.
According to organisers, SPIC MACAY has spent nearly five decades introducing classical and folk arts to young audiences across the country, helping preserve India's cultural legacy.
Artists said such programmes encourage children to connect with traditional art forms and ensure they are passed on to future generations.
The performance offered students an unforgettable cultural experience while strengthening appreciation for Kerala's timeless Kathakali tradition and India's diverse artistic heritage.
