Indore Airport to go 24x7 from April 1 after runway upgrade

Air travel to and from Indore is set to become more seamless, as Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport gears up to operate 24/7 from April 1, offering greater flexibility and expanded flight options.

Passengers will soon be able to access flight services 24 hours a day, including late-night travel options, offering greater convenience and flexibility for those travelling to and from the city.

The move comes after the near completion of key infrastructure upgrades at the airport, particularly extensive runway work aimed at enhancing safety and operational efficiency.

According to Ramswaroop Yadav, Public Relations Officer, Indore Airport, "To meet safety norms, it was necessary to carry out re-carpeting of the runway. The re carpeting work had been going on since November 2024 and was supposed to be completed by October 2025. However, due to the rain in between, the work was delayed. Because of this delay, we obtained a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) from the DGCA until March 31, 2026. The tarmac work is now almost complete. The first layer and shoulder work are done, and the required safety norms have been met. The second layer is also nearly finished, with only a small portion remaining. From April 1, the runway has been open for 24 hours."

The airport authorities confirmed that most of the runway recarpeting work has been completed, with only minor portions of the second layer left. Safety requirements have been fulfilled, enabling the transition to full-day operations.

It is anticipated that the 24-hour service will greatly increase passenger volume, enhance regional and national connectivity, and give travellers more flight options to and from Indore.
