Seers and cow protection groups from across India will launch a nationwide outreach campaign later this month, visiting nearly 5,000 sub-districts and about 780 district headquarters to demand that the cow be declared the ‘National Mother’ and that a separate ministry be set up for its welfare.

The initiative, titled the ‘Cow Respect Campaign’, will be carried out under the guidance of saints and religious leaders, according to Mahamandaleshwar Ramgopal Das of Shri Ram Mandir Gaushala. He said cow devotees, along with seers and other prominent figures, would submit memorandums to the Prime Minister, President, Vice President and Chief Ministers urging constitutional recognition and stronger legal protection for cows.

“Along with saints and other respected figures, cow devotees will request the Prime Minister, the President, the Vice President and all Chief Ministers to declare cow as the national mother and establish a separate ministry for its welfare. The cow is considered the first pillar of Sanatana Dharma,” Ramgopal Das said.

He noted that the absence of a central law on cow protection has led to continued incidents of cow slaughter and stressed the need for constitutional legislation, strict legal action and peaceful protests to address the issue.

The campaign will begin on April 27, with memorandums being submitted to the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers in various states. Ramgopal Das said the movement would escalate if no concrete steps are taken, with a second phase planned for July 27, 2026, under the leadership of senior seers.
