Bengaluru has transformed its palace grounds into a magnificent work of edible art as the city celebrates the arrival of Christmas in style.

From towering castles to intricate depictions of Hindu deities and popular film characters, the vibrant and meticulously crafted cakes are drawing visitors in large numbers. The 51st annual Cake Show has brought together skilled bakers and artists from across the country, all showcasing their creativity under one roof.

The standout attraction this year is the Royal Citadel Sugar Sculpture — an 18-foot-tall princess castle weighing nearly two tonnes. Another major highlight is the cake depiction of ‘Panjurli’ from the Kannada blockbuster Kantara, a creation that took the collective effort of 75 people and more than three months to complete.

According to Vinay, organiser of the programme, “We have organised the 51st cake show. We can see here a dream castle which weighs 2 tonnes and is a highlight of our show. We also have the Kantara movie’s ‘Panjurli’ made out of cakes. It took 75 people to make this cake. For more than 3 months people have been involved in making these cakes..”

For visitors, the exhibition is not just a feast for the eyes but also an opportunity to celebrate the festive season while supporting the artisans behind these elaborate creations.

Meanwhile, a visitor named Sanjana says, “We come here every year, it's a very good show. Every single cake has been made very well. The hard work put in by the makers is unimaginable. It's great. They do this every year and I come every year. We enjoy like anything..”

Another visitor, Ambika said that, “I request everyone to come and visit the show. We should encourage the makers. Everything is good here. All those characters we see in movies have been made realistically. Come and visit this for a new experience.’’

“We came here for the show; everything is too good. There are portrayals of Kantara and more. They must have prepared them over hours. Shouldn't we support them?”

The cake show commenced on December 12; and will end on January 4.
