In an age dominated by motorised transport, a 61-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh’s Bapatla district has drawn attention for choosing a horse as his primary mode of daily travel.

Laxman Reddy, a resident of a village in the district, prefers horseback riding over bikes or cars for all his routine commutes. While most villagers rely on modern vehicles, Reddy continues to travel through village roads and open fields on his horse, a practice he has followed for decades.

Reddy believes that regular horse riding has helped him remain physically strong, active and free from body pain, even in his sixties. His day begins at sunrise, when he feeds and grooms his horse before setting out on his daily rides along dusty village paths.

Over the years, Reddy has raised and cared for eight horses, developing a deep bond with the animals. His family members have been supportive of his lifestyle, and his commitment has earned admiration from friends and neighbours, who describe him as disciplined, patient and grounded.

Though his children are employed in cities, Reddy has chosen to continue living a quiet village life. He now hopes to inspire the younger generation to take up horse riding.
