Speaking in New Delhi at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, the Alphabet CEO claimed that the US-India tech partnership could highly improve the accessibility, inclusivity, and impact of AI on a global basis

India has formally joined the US-led strategic initiative called "Pax Silica," which aims to improve global supply chains for artificial intelligence and essential minerals. The announcement was made on Friday as Washington and New Delhi aim to mend their bilateral ties after reaching an interim trade agreement.

Launched by the United States in December 2025, Pax Silica seeks to create resilient and reliable supply networks for key technological inputs, including semiconductors and critical minerals. By joining the alliance, India gains access to trusted sources for AI and chip components, reducing its reliance on China amid growing domestic demand for advanced technologies.

Experts warn that although membership offers New Delhi strategic advantages, India may find it difficult to maintain its influence within the bloc because some of its members have more advanced manufacturing capabilities and larger resource reserves. As the alliance develops, protecting national interests will be a top priority.

Apart from the US, Pax Silica member nations include Australia, Greece, Israel, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.
