Thalapathy Vijay fans may finally have the update they have been waiting for. After months of speculation surrounding the release of 'Jana Nayagan', the film's Canadian distributor, York Cinemas, has seemingly confirmed the release date through a social media announcement.

The distributor shared the update on its official social media handles, writing, "Finally! Our Own Thalapathy Vijay is ready to set the big screen on fire with #JanaNayagan. Canada Release by York Cinemas. Igniting screens from July 24."

Although the makers have not yet issued an official announcement, the post is being viewed as the strongest indication so far that Vijay's much-awaited swansong is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 24.

'Jana Nayagan' was originally scheduled to hit theatres during the Pongal festival on January 9.

However, the release was postponed after the film reportedly failed to receive its censor certificate in time, disappointing fans across the globe.

According to reports, the production team has since implemented all the modifications suggested by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The certification process is said to have been completed, with the censor certificate expected to be issued shortly.

Speaking to The Indian Express earlier, the production house said, "The CBFC has completed its review and sent us the final list of revisions.

Once we complete those changes, we are hopeful of receiving the certification and bringing the film to theatres."

'Jana Nayagan' is expected to be Vijay's final film before he exits cinema to focus on his full-time political career, making it one of the most anticipated Indian releases of the year.
