Suraj Venjaramoodu recently shared a special memory from the sets of ‘Jailer 2’, revealing how Rajinikanth stayed back after 2 am to watch him perform a scene and applauded once the shot was over.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Suraj recalled that Rajinikanth had completed his own shot and could have left the location. Instead, the veteran actor chose to stay back and watch Suraj in action.

“Rajini sir had finished his shot and was supposed to leave the set, but he stayed back to watch my performance. I was in my character and did the scene, and the moment the director said ‘cut', I heard someone clapping. I looked aside and saw it was none other than Rajinikanth sir," Suraj said.

The moment became even more special when Suraj realised that the applause had come from Rajinikanth himself. Vidya Balan was also seated beside the superstar and joined in the appreciation. Their reaction prompted others on the set to clap as well.

For Suraj, the recognition carried a significance that went beyond awards and professional milestones. Although he has won a National Film Award for his acting, receiving such encouragement from one of Indian cinema's biggest stars left a lasting impression on him.

“Seeing him get up and clap, everyone present on set started to clap on location. It was a lifetime moment for me. I have won a National Award for acting but coming from him, it meant more than that award. He is such a huge superstar but he is still so keen to know about films and his co-stars and their process, he is genuinely an inspiration,” he concluded.

About Jailer 2

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, ‘Jailer 2’ brings Rajinikanth back to the world of the action comedy, with Kalanithi Maran producing the film under the Sun Pictures banner. Nelson returns as both writer and director for the sequel.

The cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa, while Mammootty and Shiva Rajkumar are expected to reprise the cameo appearances that made the first film's ensemble a talking point. Anirudh Ravichander is composing the music.

The film has reportedly received a UA 16+ certificate and has a listed runtime of 165 minutes and 18 seconds, or approximately two hours and 45 minutes. It is scheduled to release in theatres on October 15.

The film's trailer has also fuelled speculation about a possible appearance by Hrithik Roshan. A silhouette shown in the promotional material led some fans to wonder whether the Bollywood star could be part of the sequel.
