When will Rajinikanth’s autobiography release? Here’s what we know

Rajinikanth’s life story could soon reach readers in two languages. Tamil lyricist and writer Vairamuthu has shared an update on the superstar’s much-anticipated autobiography, revealing that the book is in progress and may initially be released in both Tamil and English.

Vairamuthu shared details of his recent meeting with Rajinikanth in a post on X on Monday, October 12. The lyricist said he met the actor to wish him luck ahead of the release of ‘Jailer 2’. Their conversation touched on art and life, but politics did not come up, he noted.

During the meeting, Vairamuthu asked Rajinikanth when readers could expect his autobiography. The actor reportedly told him that work was underway and the book would be released soon.

Vairamuthu also explained why he believed Rajinikanth’s life story would attract considerable interest. When the superstar asked him why people were waiting for the book, the lyricist responded that many people had a history, but Rajinikanth also had charisma.

According to Vairamuthu, Rajinikanth then suggested that the autobiography could initially be published in Tamil and English. However, an official publication date and further details about the book have not yet been announced.

The latest update adds to the anticipation surrounding Rajinikanth’s account of his life and career. In August, his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth reportedly said that he was actively working on his autobiography. The new comments from Vairamuthu offer a glimpse of the book’s progress, although details about its contents, publisher and release plans remain unknown.

Rajinikanth’s journey from working as a bus conductor in Bengaluru to becoming one of Indian cinema’s most recognisable stars has spanned several decades. Known for his distinctive screen presence, dialogue delivery and style, the actor has built a devoted following across generations and language industries. His autobiography could offer readers a more personal account of the experiences behind that journey.

Jailer 2 set for October 15 release

The meeting between Vairamuthu and Rajinikanth comes just days before the actor’s next big-screen outing. ‘Jailer 2’, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, is scheduled to release in theatres worldwide on October 15.

Rajinikanth returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian in the sequel to the 2023 action entertainer Jailer. The original film became a major commercial success, with its mix of action, humour and memorable supporting characters helping it connect with audiences.

The sequel brings back several familiar faces, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu and Mirnaa. Its expanded ensemble also includes S. J. Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty and Suraj Venjaramoodu, while Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar return to the franchise. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music, with Nelson returning as writer and director.
