‘Jailer 2’ to hit screens on October 15; Sree Gokulam Movies to handle Kerala, Karnataka release

Rajinikanth’s much-awaited sequel ‘Jailer 2’ is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 15, with Sree Gokulam Movies acquiring the distribution rights for Kerala and Karnataka.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is expected to have a massive theatrical release across the two states. The distribution rights were reportedly secured by Sree Gokulam Movies, owned by Sree Gokulam Gopalan, for a record amount.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, ‘Jailer 2’ will see Rajinikanth return as Muthuvel Pandian, the character he portrayed in the first instalment. The 2023 film emerged as a major box-office success, and the return of its central character has generated considerable anticipation among fans.

The sequel will also bring back several actors from the first film. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar, who made extended cameo appearances in ‘Jailer’, are set to return. The new instalment will also feature actors who were not part of the original, including Suraj Venjaramoodu, SJ Suryah and Vidya Balan. Character videos introducing several members of the cast have already been released.

One of the film’s key attractions is its mix of returning characters and new additions to the ‘Jailer’ universe. Nelson Dilipkumar, who helmed the first film, has also written and directed the sequel.

Anirudh Ravichander, who composed the music for ‘Jailer’, is back for the sequel and will handle both the film’s music and background score. The song ‘Ala Bolelo’, released ahead of the film, has been gaining attention, with Malayalam actor Shamna Kasim’s dance performance emerging as one of its highlights.

Vijay Karthik Kannan is the cinematographer for ‘Jailer 2’, while Kalanithi Maran has produced the film for Sun Pictures.

With Rajinikanth reprising his popular role and several familiar faces joining a new ensemble, ‘Jailer 2’ is among the major Tamil releases lined up for October.
