Jon Snow could return? Kit Harington says he feels ‘more comfortable’ with ‘Game of Thrones’ again

Jon Snow may not have said his final goodbye to Westeros after all. Kit Harington, who played the iconic ‘Game of Thrones’ character for eight seasons, has revealed that he is no longer completely ruling out a return to the fantasy world.

The actor's comments come years after HBO shelved plans for a Jon Snow spin-off. While there is still no confirmation that the project is being revived, Harington now appears more open to revisiting the character if the right story comes along.

Kit Harington on a possible Jon Snow return

Harington addressed the long-discussed spin-off while appearing on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast. The actor explained that the idea had always depended on finding a story that felt worthwhile rather than simply returning to Westeros for the sake of it.

“I still think there’s a world in which something could work,” Harington said.

He recalled being particularly firm about finding the right story when the project was first being discussed, noting that HBO and George R.R. Martin shared the same approach.

The actor eventually came to the conclusion that the version of the story being developed at the time was not quite right for Jon Snow.

But several years later, his feelings about the character appear to have shifted.

“Now I’ve gone and done all these other things and now I feel more comfortable with that character and that world again and where it sits in my life,” Harington said.

For fans of the HBO fantasy series, the comments are significant, especially because the Jon Snow spin-off had once been one of the most talked-about potential extensions of the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe.

The original series ended with Jon being sent beyond the Wall after the battle for the Iron Throne. He eventually reunited with the Free Folk, leaving his future deliberately open-ended.

While Harington's latest comments do not confirm that the spin-off is returning, they suggest that the actor's door to Westeros is not completely closed.

From Westeros to the Wizarding World

Harington also opened up about his connection to another hugely popular fantasy franchise during the podcast conversation.

The actor revealed that ‘Harry Potter’ audiobooks became an important part of his bedtime routine after he gave up alcohol. Harington said his mind has always been particularly active at night and that switching off became even more difficult after he got sober.

“My brain is incredibly busy, especially at night, and I’ve always found going to bed very difficult and my brain doesn’t turn off,” he said.

He eventually began listening to ‘Harry Potter’ audiobooks and said they have now become something he listens to every night.

The connection is particularly fitting given that Harington has also stepped into the Wizarding World professionally.

Kit Harington to play Gilderoy Lockhart

Harington has already voiced Gilderoy Lockhart in the full-cast audio editions of the ‘Harry Potter’ books and is set to take on the character in HBO's upcoming live-action series.

He will play the famously narcissistic Defence Against the Dark Arts professor in the show's second season.

Describing Lockhart, Harington joked: “Lockhart is addicted to himself. It’s just a tiny step to my left.”

Meanwhile, Harington is currently promoting ‘A Tale of Two Cities’, the four-part television adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic novel, which premiered on MGM+ on September 6.

As for Jon Snow, there is still no official word on a revival of the shelved spin-off. But after years away from ‘Game of Thrones’, Harington's latest comments have certainly put the possibility of a return back on fans' radar.
