How Vidya Balan shaped the ‘Kahaani’ franchise

The first ‘Kahaani’, released in 2012, became a major critical and commercial success, largely due to Vidya Balan's performance as Vidya Bagchi.

The film followed a pregnant woman who travels to Kolkata in search of her missing husband. During her investigation, she receives help from Assistant Sub-Inspector Satyoki Sinha, played by Parambrata Chatterjee, and Intelligence Bureau officer A Khan, portrayed by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

As the mystery unfolds, it is revealed that Vidya's pregnancy and identity were part of a carefully planned mission. Her husband, who worked in the army, had died in a gas attack on the metro, leading her to create an elaborate plan to uncover the truth and seek justice.
