‘Will campaign if invited by Ramesh Pisharody’: Asif Ali

Actor Asif Ali stated that he has no interest in contesting elections and that all his dreams are rooted in cinema. He said that if Ramesh Pisharody, who is contesting from Palakkad, invites him, he would definitely go for campaigning. He added that he has faith in Pisharody’s abilities. He also told Mathrubhumi News that everyone should ensure their name is included in the voters’ list.

Asif Ali expressed his happiness on the occasion of Eid. “Today is a day of joy. After 30 days of fasting, all family members have come together. Usually, I go to my hometown Thodupuzha for Eid, but this time I stayed in Ernakulam for a change. Regardless of differences in caste or politics, all celebrations—be it Eid, Onam, or Christmas—should be celebrated together in unity. Let that spirit always continue and remain in everyone’s hearts,” he said.

Asif Ali clarified that Ramesh Pisharody has not invited him yet to campaign. “If such a call comes, I will definitely go, because I know him very well personally. Everyone should check whether their name is on the voters’ list and must vote properly. Without voting, no one has the right to criticise a political party or leader. Only after exercising one’s voting right does one earn that freedom.”

He added that reports on social media claiming that many people have approached him to contest elections are baseless. “No one has approached me with such a request. Even if they do, I am not interested in becoming a candidate,” Asif Ali reiterated.
