Chennai: Veteran actor Rajinikanth has expressed concern over Indian youth increasingly distancing themselves from their own cultural heritage and embracing Western influences. Speaking via video call at an event organised by his wife, Latha Rajinikanth, in Chennai on Wednesday, the superstar remarked that the younger generation is largely unaware of the traditions and values that define India’s rich heritage.

“In this era of mobile phones, many youngsters – and even some older individuals – lack knowledge about our country’s cultural and spiritual legacy,” Rajinikanth stated. “Without understanding the greatness and pride of our traditions, they are blindly following Western culture.”

He went on to observe that while Indians are moving away from their roots, many Westerners are turning to India in search of peace and fulfilment. “They are unable to find contentment or harmony in their own cultures, and so they look to India. Here, they find peace through practices like meditation, yoga, and living in harmony with nature,” he added.

Rajinikanth also praised Latha Rajinikanth’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about Indian heritage and spirituality. “Latha is trying to create awareness about this, and I pray that, with God’s blessings, her endeavours will be successful,” he said.

On the film front, Rajinikanth is currently working on two major projects — Coolie with director Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Jailer 2 with Nelson Dilipkumar. Coolie is scheduled for theatrical release on August 14th.
