Was Nagarjuna approached to play Rehman Dakait? Actor opens up

Following the release of Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh in the lead, Akshaye Khanna has emerged as one of the film’s major talking points online. His portrayal of Rehman Dakait has earned widespread acclaim from audiences and critics alike.

Amid the film’s success, reports surfaced claiming that Telugu superstar Nagarjuna was originally approached to play the role of Rehman Dakait, and that the part eventually went to Khanna after Nagarjuna declined the offer. Addressing the speculation, Nagarjuna has now clarified that he was never offered the role.

In a recent interview, the actor stated that while he was not approached for the character, he would have been interested had the opportunity come his way.

“Dhurandhar is an excellent film. Aditya Dhar’s direction is remarkable. I also liked his previous film Uri. The performances by everyone in the film are outstanding, especially Akshaye Khanna’s. I am looking forward to the sequel and wish them another blockbuster,” Nagarjuna said. He added that audiences today clearly prefer storytelling that meets international standards.

The actor is currently busy shooting for his 100th film. His most recent Bollywood appearance was in 2022’s Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, in which he played the character Anish Shetty alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.

Meanwhile, the sequel to Dhurandhar, titled The Revenge, is scheduled for release on March 19. Reports suggest that Akshaye Khanna will reprise his role as Rehman Dakait in the second instalment.
