Renowned playback singer Vaikom Vijayalakshmi was presented with the prestigious Best Female Playback Singer honour by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony. The acclaimed vocalist was greeted with a heartwarming standing ovation from the assembled audience as she took to the stage to accept her maiden National Film Award.

Vijayalakshmi secured the accolade for her soulful rendering of the lullaby Angu Vaana Konilu from the 2024 Malayalam film Ajayante Randam Moshanam (ARM). Composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas with lyrics penned by Manu Manjith, the track resonated deeply with both critics and filmgoers alike.
