'First award is director’s OK’ says Urvashi after winning Best Actress at Kerala State Film Awards

Mollywood actress Urvashi who was awarded Best Actress in the Kerala State Film Awards 2023 for the sixth time spoke about the deeper meaning behind receiving such honours. Feeling elated, Urvashi said that the first award that actors receive is in the form of an 'OK' from the director of the film.

Urvashi said, “When acting, the award never comes to our mind first. It’s the director who first gives the award by saying ‘Okay.’ The praise we receive after the film’s release feels like individual awards, which I accept with heartfelt gratitude. I am extremely happy that this recognition has come at the government level. For me, receiving an award is similar to seeing the progress report of a student in school.”

Reflecting on her performance in Ullozhukku, Urvashi praised her co-star Parvathy and shared how the latter's collaboration contributed to her performance. “My performance in Ullozhukku was excellent, particularly because Parvathy was there to act opposite me. Her performance was also outstanding. During the making I faced a lot of mental and physical challenges,” she added.
