The makers of ‘Unmadham’ have released the film's first song, "Akale," offering a poignant glimpse into the emotional world of the upcoming Malayalam thriller. Released on July 24, the track is sung by composer-singer Bijibal, with music by Mujeeb Majeed and lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar.

Rather than revealing too much of the story, ‘Akale’ focuses on the aftermath of a personal loss. The video follows Shelly, played by Kunchacko Boban, as he copes with the death of his father, hinting at the emotional weight the film carries. The restrained visuals and soulful composition have already caught the attention of viewers, adding to the buzz created by the film's recently released trailer.

Directed by acclaimed editor Kiran Das in his directorial debut, Unmadham marks his first film behind the camera after editing acclaimed Malayalam films including ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’, ‘Joji’, ‘Moothon’, ‘Romancham’, ‘Rorschach Joseph’ and ‘Ela Veezha Poonchira’. Das also won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Editor for ‘Ishq’.

Written by National Award-winning filmmaker Shahi Kabir, the film reunites him with Kunchacko Boban after ‘Officer on Duty’. Boban plays a police officer investigating a mysterious file in a police station, to be linked to superstition and said to bring trouble to anyone who touches it.

The film also stars Lijomol Jose, alongside Siddique, Sudheesh, Vishak Nair, Sabu Mon, Kottayam Nazeer and several others in key roles.

Presented by T-Series Films and Panorama Studios, ‘Unmadham’ is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak, with Ram Mirchandani and Rajesh Menon serving as co-producers. The film is set for a worldwide theatrical release on July 31, 2026.
