'Two waywards who’ll never get along,' says Vineeth as Basil and Tovino gear up for epic clash – Athiradi

The title teaser of Athiradi, a highly anticipated Malayalam action entertainer, has been released. Produced under the banners of Basil Joseph Entertainment by actor-director Basil Joseph and Dr. Ananthu S Entertainment by Dr. Ananthu S, the film brings together Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas, and Vineeth Srinivasan in leading roles. The movie is being presented as a full-fledged mass entertainer and marks the directorial debut of Arun Anirudhan, one of the writers of Basil Joseph’s previous hit Minnal Murali. Filming is set to commence by the end of October.

The screenplay has been jointly penned by Paulson Skaria and Arun Anirudhan. Co-producers of the project include director-cinematographer Sameer Thahir and Tovino Thomas. This collaboration also reunites Tovino, Basil Joseph, Sameer Thahir, and Arun Anirudhan following Minnal Murali.

The title teaser opens with Vineeth Srinivasan’s character and features Basil Joseph and Tovino Thomas in high-octane mass avatars. The teaser hints at a thrilling action spectacle with dialogue such as, “One is the wildfire, the other is the storm,” promising a cinematic experience aimed at thrilling audiences. The teaser emphasises the contrast in the characters’ personalities and screen presence.

The teaser, reminiscent of pan-South Indian blockbuster announcements, has been released in multiple languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada. The casting call for the film also stood out, as the caption read: “Mass guys required for mass bunking!”

Athiradi marks the first full fledged on-screen collaboration of Basil Joseph, Tovino Thomas, and Vineeth Srinivasan. Vishnu Vijay has composed the music, Samuel Henry is the cinematographer, Chaman Chacko is the editor and Manav Suresh is the production designer. 

The technical and creative team behind the film also features Mashar Hamsa as the costume designer, with Ronex Xavier handling makeup and Nixon George serving as the sound designer. The lyrics are penned by Suhail Koya, while Antony Thomas manages production control. Executive producers include Nikhil Ramanath and Amal Xavier Manackatharayil, with Shaukath Kallus overseeing finances. Mindstein Studios handles the visual effects, and Suku Damodar is the chief associate director. Stills are captured by Rohith K Suresh, while the title design is crafted by Sarcasanam. The film’s public relations is managed by Vaisakh C Vadakkeveedu and Jinu Anilkumar.
