‘Troll me, but don’t kill’: Anupama Parameswaran; Suresh Gopi backs her, citing Simran’s journey

Actress Anupama Parameswaran has opened up about the neglect and criticism within the Malayalam film industry. Speaking at the audio launch of her upcoming film JSK - Janaki vs State of Kerala, in which she stars alongside veteran actor Suresh Gopi, Anupama said she was often dismissed and told that she did not know how to act.
"Many people sidelined me in the Malayalam film industry. They said I didn’t know how to act. I had to endure a lot of trolling," she said, while addressing the audience during the launch. She further added with an appeal to the viewers, “Troll me if you want, but don’t kill.”
Responding to her comments on stage, veteran actor and politician Suresh Gopi offered his support and cited similar past experiences of other female actors. “This is not the first time something like this has happened, Anupama,” he said.
“I know of a truth — Simran was a heroine we belittled in Malayalam. But later, I personally know of acclaimed directors who ran after her to cast her as a lead in Malayalam films. Asin, Nayanthara — all of them flourished and became sought-after heroines in various languages. The same will happen in your life too, Anupama. This is what we call karma. It has to happen. My prayers are with you,” he added.
