Mobbed by fans, Thalapathy Vijay trips and falls at Chennai Airport | VIDEO

Chennai: Tamil superstar and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Thalapathy Vijay briefly stumbled and fell at Chennai airport late Sunday night as a massive crowd of fans gathered to welcome him back from Malaysia. The incident, captured on camera, has once again brought the spotlight to celebrity safety and crowd management at public places.
According to eyewitnesses, Vijay was walking towards the airport exit, surrounded by heavy security and an overwhelming number of supporters, when the crowd surged forward. Moments before entering his car, the actor-politician reportedly tripped and fell. Security personnel immediately rushed to his aid, lifted him, and escorted him safely into the vehicle.
Thalapathy Vijay had returned from Malaysia after attending the audio release event of his upcoming film Jananayagan at a stadium in Kuala Lumpur on December 27. The event drew thousands of fans and turned emotional when Vijay announced that he would be stepping away from cinema to fully dedicate himself to public life and politics.
Addressing fans at the audio launch, Vijay Thalapathy spoke passionately about their unwavering support over the years.
"When I entered the cinema, I thought I was building a small sand house here. But you all have built me a palace. Fans helped me build a fort… That's why I've decided to stand for them. For the fans who gave up everything for me, I'm giving up cinema itself," the actor said.
The film Jananayagan is widely believed to be Thalapathy Vijay’s swansong, marking the end of his illustrious acting career before a full-fledged political journey.
Celebrity safety under scrutiny
The airport incident has renewed concerns about crowd control and celebrity safety. Recently, actress Nidhhi Agerwal was mobbed by fans at a city mall. This followed another similar incident involving actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu during a public appearance in Hyderabad, where she too was surrounded by an uncontrollable crowd.
