Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the veteran actor, remembering him as one of Indian entertainment’s most loved figures.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote:

With a prolific career spanning over four decades, Satish Shah earned a place in Indian cinematic history through his impeccable comic timing and diverse performances.

From the cult classic ‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ (1983) to popular blockbusters like ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’, ‘Main Hoon Na’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’, ‘Shaadi No 1’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’, his filmography reflected both versatility and mastery of humour.

Despite his memorable appearances on the big screen, it was his portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai that turned him into a cultural icon and household favourite.

The film fraternity and countless fans continue to mourn the loss of a legend who brought laughter, warmth and joy to Indian entertainment for generations.
