Suriya’s ‘Kanguva’ earns Rs 58.62 crore on opening day despite mixed reviews

The official first-day global collection figures for Kanguva, which has received an overwhelming response from audiences, are now out. The film earned a global gross of Rs 58.62 crore on its opening day, marking the highest first-day global earnings of Suriya’s career. However, the movie has been receiving mixed reviews from audience so far.

Pirated copy of ‘Kanguva’ circulates online

Meanwhile, the unauthorised version of Kanguva has surfaced online, available for download in multiple resolutions, from 1080p to 240p. This has made it easier for users on popular torrent sites like Tamilrockers and messaging platforms like Telegram to access the film illegally. Studio Green, the production company behind Kanguva, has strongly condemned the piracy and issued a firm warning to those responsible for leaking the movie. An anti-piracy task force has been deployed, with the producers committed to tracking down those distributing the illegal copy.

A grand production with an ensemble cast

Produced by K. E. Gnanavel Raja under the Studio Green banner, along with Vamsi and Pramod of UV Creations, Kanguva is a historical epic set 1,500 years ago. The film features Suriya in the leading role, with Bollywood actor Bobby Deol playing the villain. Disha Patani stars as the female lead, supported by a stellar ensemble cast that includes Yogi Babu, Prakash Raj, KS Ravikumar, Jagapathi Babu, and several others in key roles.

Directed by Siva, Kanguva is written by Madhan Karky, Adi Narayana, and Siva himself. The film was released in a record 38 languages globally, marking it as one of the biggest international releases in recent times.
