Director Karthik Subbaraj dropped the trailer of the much-awaited Suriya starrer movie 'Retro', giving fans a first glimpse into what looks like a thrilling ride. Suriya is back in a raw and intense avatar—this time with a gritty, action-packed role that’s a big departure from anything he’s done before. Pooja Hegde steps in as his love interest, and her role seems to go beyond just romance, adding real depth to the emotional side of the story.

The trailer kicks off with Suriya’s character going on a ruthless rampage, taking down enemies in intense action sequences. But soon, we’re taken into his past, where he’s seen promising his lover—played by Pooja Hegde—that he’ll leave behind his violent ways. Fast-forward to the present, and it’s clear things haven’t gone to plan. Instead of walking away, he seems to have sunk deeper into crime, adding tension and heartbreak to the story.

Joju George and Jayaram also make stylish appearances in the trailer. From the looks of it, 'Retro' could be Suriya’s big return as the ‘Singam’ of Kollywood—a throwback fans are excited to see.

Certified U/A – No cuts

Retro has wrapped up its censorship formalities and secured a ‘U/A’ certificate from the CBFC. Director Subbaraj had earlier teased this, and now a screenshot from the CBFC website confirms the final runtime—2 hours and 48 minutes. Interestingly, the film didn’t go through any cuts, just a few small word replacements.

Star-studded cast and technical brilliance

The film boasts an impressive cast, including Karunakaran, Nassar, and Prakash Raj, with Shriya Saran making a special cameo.

On the technical side, Santhosh Narayanan’s music and Shreyaas Krishna’s cinematography promise to add some serious flair. With its mix of retro style and modern storytelling, 'Retro' looks set to offer a fresh cinematic experience for fans of both Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj.
