Thrissur: When Union Minister Suresh Gopi visited director Sathyan Anthikad’s house, he carried with him a violet flower bouquet, a subtle symbol of bygone memories. The meaning of the flowers, hidden in their delicate hues, was a secret only he knew. When Sathyan Anthikad realised about it, he said, “Suresh’s memory is truly priceless.”

Though Suresh Gopi had not acted in many of Sathyan Anthikad’s films, their bond was longstanding. Their first collaboration was in 1984, when Sathyan directed Sreedharante Onnam Thirumurivu, which also marked Suresh Gopi’s first appearance in a Sathyan film.

In this movie, Suresh Gopi made his entry alongside actress Neena Kurup, and there were lovely violet flowers in the background. And it’s in this context that the violet flowers could be seen symbolically tied to the bouquet. Suresh Gopi explained how the flowers’ violet colour was deliberately chosen to reflect this memory.

The bouquet, Suresh Gopi shared, was brought as a gesture for Sathyan’s wife Nimmi. He also fondly recalled the moments shared with Sathyan's children Akhil and Anoop Sathyan. It was during Anoop Sathyan’s film Varane Avashyamund that Suresh Gopi had acted alongside them.

In an emotional moment, Suresh Gopi suggested to Sathyan that discussions with farmers should take place in the comfort of his home. Sathyan expressed his joy in turning his home into a venue for meaningful conversations, a gesture that made the moment even more special, as he told Mathrubhumi.
