'I will die if I can't act': Suresh Gopi says he will be saved if removed as minister for acting

Declaring that cinema is his passion and he will die if he cannot act, Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi stated in a lighter tone that he will feel relieved if he loses ministerial post because of acting in a movie. The actor-politician was speaking at a programme organised by the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce to honour him.
While speaking at the event, he humorously said that he had asked for permission to act in the movie ‘Ottakompan’ and that he would be relieved if he loses his ministerial post because of acting in the movie.
“I will do the film. Permission has been sought, but not received. But on September 6, I'm starting ‘Otakkompan’. Everyone's blessings should be there. I have agreed to do about 22 films with much passion. As I said I have 22 movies to do when Amit Shah asked me how many more films I have to do, he took the bundle of papers and kept it to one side. But it was said that permission will be granted. Anyway, I will be here on September 6. Now if they send me away because of that, I can only say that I will be saved,” Suresh Gopi said.
Suresh Gopi, MP from Thrissur, also stated that he wanted to have facilities on the set without affecting the ministerial position, and that he took the ministerial position despite lack of interest due to the constant demand from the party central leaders to take it up as a means to thank the people of Thrissur.
On the release of the Hema Commission report, Suresh Gopi said that there are problems not just within the film industry and those who think that way are the separatists.
“Problems exist in every field,” said Suresh Gopi and added that he had stated that 25 years ago.
Meanwhile, the Film Chamber stated that the Hema Commission report is one-sided and that the statements in the report were taught to those who are not active in the field, and cannot ask everyone to produce the character certificate.
