Shefali Jariwala, ‘Kaanta Laga’ star, dies at 42
Mumbai: Actor and former reality TV star Shefali Jariwala, best known for her breakout role in the iconic 2002 music video Kaanta Laga, has died at the age of 42. She reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest late on Friday night.
According to initial reports, her husband, actor Parag Tyagi, rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival. Her body was then transferred to Cooper Hospital at approximately 12:30 am for a post-mortem examination.
The Assistant Medical Officer at Cooper Hospital confirmed that the body had arrived from another medical facility and added that the definitive cause of death will be determined following the post-mortem.
In a development that has raised questions, Mumbai Police visited Jariwala’s residence in Andheri during the night. A forensic team was also deployed, conducting a detailed inspection of the premises. Although there has been no official statement regarding foul play, the involvement of forensic experts and law enforcement suggests that her death is being treated as potentially suspicious.

Shefali Jariwala shot to fame with her appearance in Kaanta Laga, which became a cultural phenomenon in the early 2000s. She later featured in the Bollywood film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi alongside Salman Khan and appeared in ALTBalaji’s 2019 web series Baby Come Naa. Jariwala also had a strong presence on Indian television, participating in popular reality shows such as Bigg Boss 13, Boogie Woogie, and Nach Baliye.
