'Personal attacks and gender insults destroyed me’: Seema Vineeth reflects on her marriage

Renowned celebrity makeup artist Seema Vineeth shared in a social media post that her decision to get married was a mistake.
The 38-year-old, who has been a prominent figure in the beauty industry for almost two decades, opened up about the struggles in her marriage that ultimately led to regret. She also spoke about the immense mental stress she faced, along with the gender-based harassment she endured.
She admitted that while she had announced the cancellation of her wedding a few months ago, she had later removed the post due to the immense pressure. "I have worked hard for about 18 years in my life and sincerely wanted to have a peaceful life," Seema wrote in the post.
“Sometimes in life, the decisions we make are not necessarily the right ones. It was a decision taken on an occasion that we should get married, have a life partner, and be with someone. But I realized a long time ago that it was the wrong decision. We could never get along,” she added.
Seema also spoke candidly about the fear of judgment and societal expectations that had kept her from taking decisive action earlier. “There was a fear of getting out of this lack of harmony, what would others say, how would we face others. But if we thought like that, we would still lose things.”
The makeup artist stressed that her achievements in life had never come easily, and she did not want to let anyone take away the peace she had worked so hard to create.
A part of her emotional distress stemmed from what she described as gender-based harassment and personal attacks. Seema shared that her husband had not only disrespected her profession but had also subjected her to verbal insults, undermining her success and self-worth. "I also received personal attacks, gender-based insults, and insults that destroyed me as a person. I made the person understand, tried to correct, but it did not work."
Seema also claimed that her husband would behave as though everything was fine in front of others, but behind closed doors, the behavior would turn to something that frightened her. “If the person behaved happily one day, the behavior suddenly turns into something that frightens me,” she wrote.
She admitted that for months, her daily routine, work, body, and mental health had been out of her control. “Life is going to a state where I have only wanted one thing in life—peace of mind. Many times, acted in front of others and talked about us as an ideal couple but did not receive any value,” she said.
Despite the difficulties, Seema stressed that her past hardships had not defined her and that she was determined to reclaim her sense of self. “I still want to be me, myself. I cannot accept anything that will take away my peace of mind.”
Seema’s fans and friends have shown an outpouring of support in response to her post, with many expressing admiration for her honesty and strength. Seema ended her emotional message with a hopeful note, “I hope that there will be a few friends who understand the situation.”
