Salman Khan had a tense exchange with photographers on Tuesday night after they followed him to a medical facility in Mumbai and called out the title of his upcoming film. The actor later criticised the intrusion on social media, saying the behaviour crossed a line during what he described as a sensitive personal moment.

Videos circulating online show the actor exiting Hinduja Hospital, visibly annoyed as paparazzi shouted “Bhai, bhai, Maatrubhumi!” in an attempt to get his attention. Khan, who appeared calm while entering the hospital, reacted sharply while leaving, questioning the photographers’ conduct.

Paparazzi follow actor from traffic signal to hospital

Witnesses and video clips suggest that photographers first spotted Khan when his vehicle paused at a traffic signal. They reportedly tailed him to the hospital and waited outside for his exit.

As he stepped out, a group of photographers shouted the title of his forthcoming film ‘Maatrubhumi’ to attract his attention. That appeared to be the trigger. In the footage, Khan is heard snapping, “Pagal ho gaye ho? (Have you gone crazy?)”, gesturing to his forehead in frustration.

He then walked towards the photographers, questioning how they might feel if a member of their own family were admitted to hospital. Some paparazzi members can be heard apologising in response.

Khan criticises intrusion in social media posts

As the clips gained traction online, Khan addressed the incident through posts on Instagram. He expressed disappointment, saying he has long supported the press but expects sensitivity in return.

In one post, he wrote, “If I see any press at a hospital enjoying my pain. The press that I have stood for interacted with taken care made sure that they also earn their bread n butter,” calling the behaviour inappropriate.

He then criticised the photographers for shouting the name of his film outside the hospital, adding, “But if they wanna make money from my losses…. keep quiet don’t enjoy. bhai bhai bhai matrabhumi picture ki maaa ki aankh, pic imp hai ya life (Forget about the picture, what matters more – a film or someone’s life?)”.

In a separate post, he issued a stern warning against exploiting emotional situations for content, “Aise main sau jala doonga. Bhai k ek bhai k dukh par agli baar try kar lena mere sath. Buss try kar lena …. Jab bhi tumhara koi hospital mai hoga kya mai aisa react karoonga? (I’ll burn a hundred of you down like this. Next time, try pulling this stunt when one of my brothers is going through pain – just try it with me once. When someone from your family is in the hospital, should I react like this?)”

He added another pointed reminder about his temper, “Saath saal ka ho gaya hoon lekin ladna nahiin bhoola yeh yaad rakh lena, jail mein dalo ge haaa haaa (I may have turned 60, but don’t forget that I still know how to fight. And sure, put me in jail),” noting that he had not forgotten how to defend himself. It remains unclear whom he had gone to visit.

Social media buzz followed actor’s earlier reflective post

The outburst came shortly after the 60-year-old shared a contemplative post on Sunday, prompting speculation about his mood. He posted a photo of himself lying on a sofa, writing, “By I me myself, 2 ways to be by yr self, Alone and Lonely, Alone is by choice n lonely when nobody wants to be with u..... Ab iske aage you figure out what you need to do.”

Actor Sneha Ullal commented on the post, drawing renewed attention to it. As theories circulated online, Khan clarified his earlier caption, “Arre yaar, main apne baare mein nahi baat kar raha tha (I was not talking about myself). How can I be alone when I have such a large, amazing family and friends? How can I be lonely when I have you guys, your wishes and duas? I would be the biggest na-shukra ever (I would be ungrateful). Kabhi kabhi logon ke saath reh kar pak jaata hoon (Sometimes I get bored in people's company), isliye some me-time, bas... Iss baar koi photo nahi - breaking news bana diya (This time, no picture; don't make it breaking news). Mummy pooch rahi hai, 'Kya hua beta?' Chill maro yaar.”

Upcoming projects

Khan recently made a cameo in ‘Raja Shivaji’ as Jiva Mahala. His next major appearance is in ‘Maatrubhumi’, a film undergoing extensive changes. Previously titled ‘Battle of Galwan’, the project has been reworked with references to China and the Galwan Valley removed and major reshoots underway. A release date has not yet been announced.
