Prabhas, one of the highest-paid movie stars in Indian cinema today, has seen his career evolve significantly since his debut in 2002. The release of S S Rajamouli's 'Baahubali' in 2015 marked a turning point, transforming Prabhas from a Telugu cinema star to a nationwide sensation. Following this, Prabhas became associated with big-budget movies, reportedly receiving Rs 150 crores for his role in 'Adipurush'.

However, new reports from Money Control, suggest that Prabhas was paid significantly less for his latest film, 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Contrary to earlier reports that he was paid the same as for 'Adipurush', it is now reported that Prabhas received Rs 80 crores for 'Kalki 2898 AD' a 50% reduction.

The rationale behind this reduction remains unclear. 'Adipurush' was a big-budget failure at the box office, which might have influenced the decision. After the success of the 'Baahubali' franchise, 'Salaar' was the only Prabhas film that performed well at the box office, for which he was reportedly paid Rs 100 crores.

Despite the pay cut, 'Kalki 2898 AD' is performing well at the box office. According to figures released by the makers, the film collected Rs 298.5 crores globally within the first two days of release.

Deepika Padukone, who played the role of Sumathi in 'Kalki 2898 AD' and is currently in the third trimester of her pregnancy, charged Rs 20 crores for her role. According to Money Control, Kamal Haasan and Amitabh Bachchan also received Rs 20 crores each, while Disha Patani was paid Rs 2 crores.
