Actor Sai Pallavi, widely loved for playing traditional roles on screen, has unexpectedly found herself at the centre of a social media storm. Pictures of her in a swimsuit during a beach trip with her sister Pooja Kannan went viral, sparking mixed reactions online.

Pooja Kannan shared a series of happy beach photos on Instagram, where the sisters looked carefree and joyful. But while some admired the fun getaway, others took to the comments section to criticise Sai Pallavi’s choice of outfit.

The comments under Pooja’s post quickly turned heated. One user wrote, "If Sai Pallavi wear sleeveless & short dress visits beach then which actress will protect our Indian culture? Give, answer for this all Sai Pallavi fans?"

"Hence proved she belongs to all so called heroine... keep aside of traditional wear..." another added.

These remarks suggested that Sai Pallavi had somehow let down her ‘traditional’ image by appearing in a swimsuit.

While a section of the internet trolled her, many of Sai Pallavi’s supporters stood up for her.

One fan strongly responded, "To those few comments people wear a swimsuit while swimming!! People can wear what they are comfortable with. It's their choice. Stop intruding in other people's lives. N saipallavi ma'am told about her preferences (modest not traditional, don't over exaggerate) in movies not personal life. Everyone can do what they feel is right. U have no right to ask. It's their choice. Even in personal life she is simple and modest only. And we respect her for the person she is!"

"That’s Ms. Pallavi’s wish, what she wants to wear. What you expect to wear under water?? A saree?? C’mon." another defended.

Her film credits include Maari 2, Love Story, Shyam Singha Roy, NGK, Athiran, Kali, Fidaa, Diya, and Virata Parvam. She was last seen in the 2022 drama Gargi.

On the workfront she has two exciting projects on the horizon; SK 21 and Thandel. Most notably, she will be seen playing the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated magnum opus, Ramayana.
