Choreographer Remo D'Souza, 6 others accused of cheating dance troupe of Rs 11.96 crore

Thane: A case has been filed in Maharashtra's Thane district against choreographer Remo D'Souza, his wife Lizelle, and five others for allegedly cheating a dance troupe out of Rs 11.96 crore, police reported on Saturday.
The case was initiated after a complaint from a 26-year-old dancer, leading to the registration of the FIR at Mira Road police station on October 16. D'Souza, his wife, and the five others face charges under sections 465 (forgery), 420 (cheating), and other related provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the FIR, the dancer and his troupe were allegedly defrauded between 2018 and July 2024. The troupe had participated in a television show, where they emerged victorious. The accused reportedly misrepresented themselves as the troupe's representatives and claimed the prize money of Rs 11.96 crore.
The other individuals named in the case include Omprakash Shankar Chouhan, Rohit Jadhav, Frame Production Company, Vinod Raut (who is a policeman), and Ramesh Gupta. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
