Omar Lulu granted interim anticipatory bail in rape case

Kochi: Director Omar Lulu has been granted interim anticipatory bail in a rape case. The police had initiated legal action against Omar Lulu following a complaint lodged by an actress cum model. The actress alleged that she was subjected to multiple instances of rape after being promised a role in a film.

The young actress, residing in Kochi, approached the police with her complaint against Omar Lulu. Initially lodged at the Palarivattom Police Station, the case was later transferred to Nedumbassery Police Station. The police have recorded the complainant's statement in connection with the case.

The police registered a case against the director on Monday, based on allegations of rape at two hotels in Nedumbassery.

In response, Omar Lulu had claimed that the actress's accusations stem from personal enmity. He stated that he had a close friendship with the actress, but they had not been in contact for six months. Omar Lulu alleged that the complaint was filed out of resentment after their friendship ended. He also stated that the complaint emerged only when he began working on a new film.
