Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ crosses Rs 550 crore globally in 10 days

New Delhi: Aditya Dhar’s espionage thriller Dhurandhar continues its unstoppable run at the box office, crossing the Rs 550 crore mark worldwide within just 10 days of release, the makers said on Monday.

Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the film has amassed Rs 552.70 crore globally so far. In India, it collected Rs 58.20 crore nett on its second Sunday, the highest-ever Sunday haul for a Hindi film, pushing its total India nett earnings to Rs 364.60 crore. The film’s India gross stands at Rs 430.20 crore, while overseas collections have reached Rs 122.50 crore.

The film opened to a strong Rs 218 crore nett in its first week, followed by Rs 34.70 crore on the second Friday and Rs 53.70 crore on the second Saturday, culminating in a record-breaking second Sunday.

In a statement, the makers said the film has witnessed an “unprecedented, record-shattering run”, adding that “every day has been bigger than the previous from the first Monday onward”. They further noted that Dhurandhar has clocked the biggest second Friday, second Saturday and second Sunday in the history of Hindi cinema.

“With packed houses, midnight shows, and round-the-clock screenings continuing unabated, there is simply no stopping this monster hit. The Dhurandhar wave has now become a worldwide phenomenon, driven by unprecedented word of mouth and an audience love that refuses to slow down,” the makers said.

Directed and written by Dhar, Dhurandhar is a high-octane spy thriller that tracks covert intelligence operations against the backdrop of major geopolitical and terror events, including the Kandahar plane hijacking, the 2001 Parliament attack and the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

The film, which has drawn polarising reactions from critics and audiences, is largely set in Lyari, a Karachi neighbourhood known for its history of gang wars and violent turf battles.

Produced by Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar under B62 Studios in association with Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, R Madhavan and Rakesh Bedi.
