Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Ranabaali’ title & release date out; Rashmika Mandanna joins epic period drama

The makers of VD 14 have officially unveiled the film’s title and release date, sending fans into a frenzy. On the occasion of Republic Day, it was announced that Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming period action drama is titled “Ranabaali” and will hit theatres worldwide on September 11, 2026.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, with T-Series presenting, the film stars Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles and promises a powerful cinematic experience set against British-era India.
The gripping glimpse released by the makers introduces audiences to a “Cursed Land” and its legendary hero, set during the brutal British rule in India. Rahul Sankrityan’s narration highlights historical atrocities, including famine zones engineered by colonial officials like Sir Richard Temple, along with economic exploitation described as worse than Hitler’s Holocaust.
Vijay Deverakonda plays Ranabaali, appearing in a never-seen-before rugged avatar, delivering an intense and commanding performance. One viral scene shows him riding a horse while dragging a British officer along railway tracks, a moment that has massively boosted the film’s buzz.
Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, while Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy fame) essays the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector.
The film is set in the 19th century. Ranabaali draws inspiration from real incidents between 1854 and 1878 that were allegedly misrepresented or erased from mainstream history. The film is not a biopic but a cinematic reconstruction based on oral histories, suppressed records, and forgotten accounts.
Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, the film is being mounted as a pan-India period action drama, promising grand visuals, emotional depth, and explosive storytelling.
This marks the third collaboration between Vijay Deverakonda and Mythri Movie Makers after Dear Comrade, Kushi and the third on-screen pairing of Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade.
