Rajinikanth's next film titled 'Dharman'; first-look poster unveiled

The title of Superstar Rajinikanth's much-anticipated next film, previously referred to as ‘#Thalaivar173’, was officially unveiled on Wednesday. The film has been titled ‘Dharman’, sparking excitement among fans and cinema enthusiasts.

The announcement was made by actor, producer and politician Kamal Haasan, whose production banner Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) is backing the project. Sharing the title poster on social media, Kamal Haasan wrote, "Dharmame vellum! (Dharma will only win) #Dharman #Thalaivar173 #SuperstarRajinikanth @rajinikanth #Mahendran @Dir_Ashwath @anirudhofficial @anbariv @RKFI @turmericmediaTM @magizhmandram.”

The reveal coincided with the film's launch, which was marked by a grand pooja ceremony.

Title poster fuels speculation

The newly released poster features Rajinikanth inside what appears to be an operating theatre, holding a surgical scalpel. In the image, the actor is also seen standing over the body of a slain gangster, creating intrigue about the character he will portray.

The visual has further strengthened speculation that Rajinikanth may be playing a doctor in the film, although the makers have yet to officially confirm plot details.

The title itself, Dharman, coupled with Kamal Haasan's accompanying message, appears to suggest themes of justice and righteousness.

Ashwath Marimuthu directs the project

The film is being directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, who rose to prominence with the blockbuster Dragon. While reports about his involvement had been circulating for months, clues shared by RKFI earlier this year had already fuelled speculation among fans.

On Ashwath's birthday, the production house released a special video tribute describing his journey "from imagination to inspiration". The accompanying promotional clip, featuring energetic lyrics and visuals, prompted many fans to conclude that the filmmaker had been chosen to helm Rajinikanth's next project.

The title announcement has now officially confirmed the collaboration.

Strong technical team on board

Dharman brings together several prominent names from the Tamil film industry.

Music for the film will be composed by Anirudh Ravichander, who has previously delivered chart-topping soundtracks for several major Rajinikanth films.

Cinematography will be handled by Niketh Bommi, while editing responsibilities have been entrusted to Pradeep E Raghav.

Action sequences will be choreographed by the National Award-winning stunt duo Anbariv.

The project is being produced by Kamal Haasan and R Mahendran, with S Disney serving as co-producer.

Anticipation builds around Rajinikanth's next outing

Excitement surrounding the film has been steadily growing ever since RKFI announced that it would produce Rajinikanth's next feature. The collaboration brings together two of Tamil cinema's most influential figures, Kamal Haasan as producer and Rajinikanth in the lead role.
