Please spare our film! This is not a publicity stunt: ‘Soothravakyam’ team | WATCH

Thiruvananthapuram: The fate of the film Soothravakyam remains uncertain following serious allegations made by actor Vincy Aloshious, who came forward revealing her harrowing experiences on set. In response, members of the film's crew have now pleaded to ‘spare’ their film, even while acknowledging the gravity of the situation.
In a written statement, producer Srikanth Kandragula praised Vincy's courage in speaking out, stating that her bravery deserves respect. He confirmed that the team had not received any formal complaint prior to the actor’s revelations, which came to their attention only through media reports.
Srikanth’s statement comes in the wake of a drug-related case involving actor Shine Tom Chacko, who is reportedly connected to the events Vincy described. The producer clarified that there had been no attempt to suppress or downplay the incident, stressing that the allegations are being treated with the utmost seriousness.
"As a producer, I view these claims with deep concern and am committed to transparency in addressing them," Srikanth said. He also revealed that a meeting involving representatives from industry bodies such as the ICC (Internal Complaints Committee) and the Film Chamber is scheduled for 21 April to investigate the matter thoroughly. “This is not an issue affecting just one or two individuals. We must also investigate whether others on set faced similarly grave experiences.”
Speaking not only as a producer but as a passionate supporter of Malayalam cinema, Srikanth added that Soothravakyam was a project born out of love for the craft, not merely personal interest. The film involved over 300 creative professionals, including the director, who worked tirelessly to bring it to completion.
"It is disheartening to see such damaging allegations cloud the work of so many talented individuals. Months of effort by a large team risk being overshadowed and forgotten,” he said, also refuting claims that the controversy is part of a marketing strategy. “Those with sound judgment will not see this as a publicity stunt.”
Srikanth expressed that the controversy has taken a toll not just financially but also emotionally on the team behind the scenes. “We do not know what will become of the film. But I urge people—please don’t let this film die,” he added.
Actor Vincy Aloshious has lodged formal complaints with both the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and the Film Chamber. She alleges that she was mistreated on the sets of Soothravakyam, an incident she says left a lasting impact.
The film industry now awaits the outcome of the upcoming investigation, which could have significant implications not only for Soothravakyam but also for the broader conversation around safety and accountability on film sets.
