Patriot movie delay: Malayalam multi-starrer will not release on April 23

Kochi: The highly anticipated Malayalam film 'Patriot', which marks the historic onscreen reunion of superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal, has hit a temporary snag. Originally scheduled to hit screens worldwide on April 23, 2026, the film’s release has been officially postponed.
In a statement released today, March 31, Anto Joseph Film Company cited "unexpected circumstances" for the delay. While the production house did not provide specific details, the industry has been buzzing with reports of a standoff between the producers and the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) regarding revenue-sharing terms.
New Announcement Tomorrow
Fans won't have to wait long for an update. The makers have confirmed that the new release date will be announced tomorrow, April 1, at 6:00 PM.
In a move highlighting the film's massive scale, the update will be shared simultaneously through the official social media handles of both Mammootty and Mohanlal.
A High-Stakes Project
Directed by Mahesh Narayanan (Take Off, Malik), 'Patriot' is one of the most expensive projects in Mollywood history, with a reported budget of ₹136 crore. The espionage thriller features a stellar ensemble cast, including:
- Fahadh Faasil
- Nayanthara
- Kunchacko Boban
- Revathy
The production house expressed its commitment to delivering a high-quality cinematic experience, stating that the decision to move the date was "unavoidable" to ensure the film meets the highest standards.
"We are putting in our best efforts to bring 'Patriot' to you in its finest form," the statement read. "We seek your continued love and support."
