‘Palappoo’ begins filming; Siddharth Bharathan, Baby Jean and Siju Sunny lead Shebin Backer-Jomon T John reunion

Shebin Backer Productions and Uppercut Films’ upcoming Malayalam film ‘Palappoo’ has commenced shooting following a puja and switch-on ceremony in Erumely. The film brings producers Shebin Backer and Jomon T John together again after their successful collaboration on ‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’.

The shoot of ‘Palappoo’, the upcoming Malayalam feature directed by CC, has begun in Erumely following a ceremonial puja and switch-on event. The traditional lamp was lit by the parents of members of the core team, while producers Shebin Backer and Jomon T John jointly performed the switch-on ceremony. Siddharth Bharathan sounded the first clapboard, and the screenplay was formally handed over to director CC by the producers.

The event was attended by members of the cast and crew, along with friends and family.

Written by Vishnu Achuthan, ‘Palappoo’ is jointly produced by Shebin Backer, cinematographer-producer Jomon T John and Ansu Elsa Varghese. Ruwais Shebin is the co-producer.

The film marks the reunion of Shebin Backer and Jomon T John as co-producers after their collaboration on ‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’, which went on to become a major success.

Siddharth Bharathan, Baby Jean and Siju Sunny headline the cast. The ensemble also includes Shaan Rahman, Ranji Kankol, Abhijith Ajith Kumar, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Ajay Vasudev, Jordy Poonjar, Sreelakshmi, Bitto Davis, Sinoj Angamaly, Unni Nair, Ramesh Kottayam and Leena Antony.

Sudev is the cinematographer, while Electronic Kili handles the music. Ajeesh Anandh is the editor and Midhun Chalissery is the art director. Rinny Divakar and Vinosh Kaimal serve as production controllers, with Saji C Joseph as production executive.

Melwy J handles costumes and Akhil Santhakumar is the makeup artist. Sujai Kumar S is the chief associate director, while Akhil C Thilakan is the associate director. Udayan Kaprassery is the finance controller and Saalim Lahir handles VFX.

The technical crew also includes stills photographer Sinat Xavier, publicity designers YellowTooths, distribution by Central Pictures and digital marketing by Anoop Sundaran. Athira Diljith is the PRO.

The assistant directors are Midhun Lal, Ajay Unnirajan and Risal Dar C S. Sreebal N and Nithin Nair are associate cinematographers, with Riyas Ahamed A as assistant cinematographer.
