'Y’all lack boundaries': Outrage online as viral clip reveals Deepika and Ranveer’s daughter without consent

Mumbai: A video showing the face of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, has sparked strong backlash across social media platforms. While some initially shared the clip with excitement, the overwhelming response from fans has been one of anger and disappointment, not at the couple, but at those who violated their privacy.
The video, which surfaced recently, shows baby Dua sitting on Deepika’s lap, her face clearly visible for the first time since her birth on September 8, 2024. Deepika is also seen in the clip, visibly uncomfortable, asking the person filming to stop, a plea that many feel was ignored in favour of a viral moment.
Soon after it was posted, the footage spread rapidly online. However, fans quickly stepped in to call out the uploader for disrespecting the family’s long-standing request to keep their child out of the public eye.
Social media defends Deepika and Ranveer’s privacy
Hundreds of users voiced their disapproval in comments and reposts. “Hey please delete the video as both Ranveer and Deepika have strictly restricted pictures of their daughter,” wrote one fan. Another added, “Doesn’t matter if she’s a celeb baby—she’s too young and this is morally wrong.”
One user compared it to similar situations involving other celebrity parents: “y’all did the same thing to Anushka, Alia, Priyanka and now Deepika. Y’all lack boundaries.”
Since Dua’s birth, Deepika and Ranveer have intentionally avoided showing her face publicly and have not shared images online. The couple has openly spoken about wanting to raise their daughter away from the spotlight, a decision that fans have mostly respected, until now.
