‘Operation Tral’ first look out: Jayasurya leads Kashmir-based thriller

The first look of Operation Tral has been officially unveiled, introducing an intense investigative thriller led by Jayasurya. The film is written and directed by Ratheesh Vega and produced by Joby George Thadathil under the banner of Goodwill Entertainments.
Inspired by true events, the film centres around a deadly convoy ambush in Kashmir, setting off a high-stakes narrative that explores the blurred lines between patriotism and politics.
Operation Tral draws from the world of India’s intelligence operations, focusing on covert missions and the unseen efforts behind national security. Early indications suggest a storyline combining action-driven sequences with a grounded, realistic portrayal of modern intelligence warfare.
The film aims to reflect themes of duty, sacrifice, and resilience, tapping into a growing demand for content that balances entertainment with deeper national narratives.
Actor Jayasurya described the film as one of the most demanding projects of his career, highlighting its scale and narrative depth. He emphasised that the film blends high-intensity action with a strong message tied to national security.
Director Ratheesh Vega said the story explores the “silent battles” fought by intelligence personnel, focusing on individuals who operate behind the scenes without recognition. He noted that the film attempts to portray the emotional and psychological weight carried by those protecting the nation.
The film is co-produced by Sunimol Joby, with cinematography handled by Najose. Ratheesh Vega also composes the music and background score, shaping the film’s overall tone.
Editing is by Shafeeque V B, while sound mixing is led by M. R. Rajakrishnan. Production design is handled by Sajeesh Thamarassery, with art direction by Suneesh Sodharan.
Costumes are designed by Sameera Saneesh and Saritha Jayasurya, with makeup by Ronex Xavier. Sound design is by Vicky, and production control is managed by Iqbal Panayikulam.
With its scale, subject matter, and patriotic theme, Operation Tral is positioned as a pan-Indian project aimed at reaching audiences beyond Malayalam cinema. The combination of real-event inspiration and high production values suggests an attempt to expand regional cinema into the national mainstream.
As anticipation builds, the first look signals a film that seeks to deliver both cinematic intensity and a message-driven narrative rooted in contemporary realities.
