‘Not his last film, it’s CM Vijay’s first’: H Vinoth's comments on ‘Jana Nayagan’ is going viral

While many have described ‘Jana Nayagan’ as Vijay's farewell to cinema before fully stepping into politics, director H Vinoth has shared an interesting perspective on what the film represents in Vijay's journey. He believes people are looking at it the wrong way. Speaking during a recent interaction, the filmmaker said he does not see it as the actor's last film.

Vinoth explained that the film carries a strong political and democratic message, making it more than just another commercial entertainer. According to him, audiences should not approach it only as Vijay's final appearance on screen.

“Whether this is really his last film, no one can say for sure. It is not about his last film, it is the first film of Chief Minister Vijay. That is how I see it," he said.

The director also believes the film is likely to spark conversations once it reaches theatres.

"There are many political discussions in the film. It will definitely create debates among the public," Vinoth said, adding that the story touches on issues that are relevant beyond the world of cinema.

He admitted he is feeling anxious ahead of the film's release, saying ‘Jana Nayagan’ is unlike any regular commercial release. According to him, the film should not be judged by the usual box office standards because of the unusual circumstances surrounding it.

"You can't compare its box office collection to a normal film at all because the things happening with this one are completely different. The release is getting postponed, lots of people have already seen it, and it's releasing in a really intense and problematic situation," he said.

Vinoth also connected the film's title with Vijay's political journey outside cinema. He referred to the actor's widely shared selfie taken during the Neyveli rally, describing it as a key moment in Vijay's political life.

Explaining the title further, Vinoth added, "The title works in two ways: one, he's the hero of the people, and two, the hero who protects democracy in the story. Both meanings function together."

Vinoth also spoke about the film receiving an 'A' certificate from the censor board, saying it was disappointing because younger fans would not be able to watch it in theatres. "Kids always come to watch Vijay sir's movies. That's honestly a bummer because we only got an 'A' certificate," he said.

‘Jana Nayagan’ has attracted attention ever since it was announced, largely because it is expected to be Vijay's final acting project before dedicating himself to public life. The film has also generated plenty of interest for its political backdrop and Vijay's on-screen portrayal of a Chief Minister.

Directed by H Vinoth, the film features Vijay in the lead alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Prakash Raj, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani and Narain. The music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
