‘Njan Steve Lopez’ was not my first film: Ahaana reveals on father’s birthday

As actor-turned-politician G. Krishnakumar celebrated his 57th birthday on Thursday, his daughter, actress Ahaana Krishna, shared a heartfelt and nostalgic post that has since gone viral across social media platforms.

In her tribute, Ahaana revealed a lesser-known fact: her acting debut wasn’t in the 2014 Malayalam film Njan Steve Lopez, as many believed, but rather in a television serial years ago—alongside her father. Recalling her appearance in two scenes as a child, she explained that she had been chosen for the role when the production team couldn’t find another child actor. “Happy 57th to my first co-actor,” she wrote, fondly referring to her father.

The accompanying video post featured a scene from the serial, with a young Ahaana visibly emotional. In a humorous yet touching note, she explained that she cried during filming because she mistakenly thought her father was giving away something that belonged to their family. “I was an overly madly possessive child,” she admitted. She also revealed that she had dubbed her own voice for the scene in a studio, including her childhood sobs.

“Some things are so precious that you don’t want to share them with the world. This was one of those things,” Ahaana wrote. She had kept the memory to herself for years, considering it her “little secret”. However, reflecting on what to post for her father’s birthday prompted her to share the moment, realising, as she put it, that “my first co-actor is my father—and that’s so cool.”

She also teased that there is another scene from the same serial that she plans to share on a future date.

The post attracted warm reactions from fellow celebrities including Rimi Tomy, Beena Antony, Diya Krishna, and Veena Nair. Krishnakumar’s other daughters—Diya Krishna, Hansika Krishna, and Ishaani Krishna—also joined in the celebrations, posting childhood photos and birthday wishes on social media.

Last year, Krishnakumar marked Ahaana’s birthday with an emotional tribute of his own, recalling their journey over the past 29 years and sharing cherished photographs from her childhood.
