Actress Nithya Menen is facing widespread backlash on social media after allegedly humiliating a colleague at an event. The incident occurred during the audio launch of the film ‘Kadhalikka Neramillai,’ starring Jayam Ravi.

At the event, when an assistant extended his hand for a handshake as Nithya climbed onto the stage, she reportedly rejected it. She allegedly responded to him from the stage, saying that she is not feeling well, and if it's COVID or something else, he’ll catch it too. However, just moments later, when actor Vinay Rai approached the stage, Nithya embraced him. This video went viral, triggering a massive trolling attack against the actress on social media.

Critics have condemned Nithya's actions, calling it equivalent to humiliating someone. They pointed out that everyone on a film set, including stars and assistants, are human beings. Since the video went viral, the actress has been criticized for her behavior.

From the beginning of the event, Nithya generally kept people at a distance. When director Mysskin approached her, she jokingly said he should not come near for a hug. She later kissed him on the cheek, and Mysskin returned the gesture by kissing her hand. Nithya allegedly expressed her affection and friendship with those she was close to in such a manner, sharing a hug with her co-star Jayam Ravi.

The main criticism revolves around her apparent favouritism, with accusations that her actions were driven by discrimination and a sense of untouchability. ‘Kadhalikka Neramillai,’ directed by Udhayanidhi's wife Kiruthiga, features Jayam Ravi and Nithya Menen in lead roles. The film is set to release in theaters on January 14.
