Mumbai on high alert after bomb threats target Amitabh Bachchan’s Jalsa and Diljit Dosanjh concert

Mumbai police and security agencies have intensified security across the city after a threatening email named actor Amitabh Bachchan’s residence, singer Diljit Dosanjh’s upcoming concert and the Mumbai mayor’s office as potential targets. The email was sent to Mayor Ritu Tawde and reportedly contained references to ‘Khalistan’.
According to an official, a search was conducted at the mayor’s office inside the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters following the alert. No suspicious objects were found during the inspection.
The email was also marked to Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi, police said. It reportedly warned of a grenade attack on a school on October 31 and threatened to target Bachchan’s Juhu residence, ‘Jalsa’, between October 31 and November 27.
Dosanjh’s scheduled concert at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27 was also mentioned in the message. The email allegedly claimed that an attack would take place during the singer’s performance.
The references to ‘Khalistan’ in the email are among the details being examined by investigators. Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the credibility of the threats, trace the origin of the message and identify the sender.
As a precautionary measure, security and surveillance have been stepped up at the locations mentioned in the email. These include the mayor’s office, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, prominent educational institutions across Mumbai and other sites identified in the message.
Security agencies remain on alert as the investigation continues.
