Speculation is swirling around actors Mrunal Thakur and Dhanush, with industry whispers suggesting that the two may be planning to marry on February 14. The rumours claim the alleged wedding would be an intimate affair, attended only by close family and friends.

Neither actor nor their representatives have publicly commented on the reports, but the buzz has gained attention given both stars’ consistent efforts to keep their personal lives private.

Early rumours and denials

Rumours linking the actors romantically surfaced several months ago. In August 2025, Mrunal addressed the chatter in an interview with Only Kollywood, describing Dhanush as “just a good friend”.

Asked about her perceived closeness to the actor, she said: “Dhanush is just a good friend to me.”

She acknowledged being aware of circulating rumours and admitted that she found them “funny” when she first read them. Responding to speculation about Dhanush attending the screening of her film, ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’, she clarified: “Dhanush attended the Son of Sardaar 2 event. No one should misunderstand that. It was Ajay Devgn who invited him.”

Social media sparks further buzz

The rumours intensified after a video from the screening of ‘Son Of Sardaar 2’ went viral, showing the two actors holding hands and whispering to each other. Fans also noted Mrunal’s presence at the wrap-up party of Dhanush’s film ‘Tere Ishq Mein’, despite her not being involved in the project.

Adding to the speculation, Mrunal followed Dhanush’s two sisters on Instagram, who followed her back – a gesture not commonly observed between Dhanush’s family members and his co-stars.

Industry sources and dating speculations

A report in News18 suggested that Mrunal and Dhanush’s relationship is relatively new and deliberately kept out of the public eye. Dhanush has yet to comment on the rumours.

A well-placed source told News18 Showsha: “Yes, it’s true that they are dating. But it’s too new and they’ve no plans of making their relationship official before the public or the media. At the same time, they’re unfazed about going out and about and being spotted. Friends are truly rooting for them as they’re quite similar and compatible when it comes to their values, choices and thoughts."

Despite these claims, Mrunal had previously addressed the dating speculation, reiterating that Dhanush is “just a good friend.”

Dhanush’s previous marriage

Dhanush was married to Aishwaryaa Rajinikanth for 18 years before the couple announced their separation in 2022. They first met on the set of his 2003 film, ‘Kadhal Kondaen’, and share two sons – Yatra and Linga.
