Hyderabad: The upcoming pan-Indian film Kannappa has been generating significant buzz, thanks in part to the star-studded cameos by Mohanlal, Prabhas, and Akshay Kumar. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film is written and headlined by actor Vishnu Manchu, who recently opened up about Mohanlal’s mysterious character in the movie.

Speaking on the podcast show Unscripted with Sai, Vishnu revealed that Mohanlal’s role was initially removed from the script but later reinstated based on the suggestion of renowned screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad, father of director S.S. Rajamouli.

Mohanlal's character will be a big surprise

"A lot of people helped me with this story. I’ve discussed the script with many, including Vijayendra Prasad garu," said Vishnu. "There was one sequence we had removed, and even the director agreed with that decision. But when I explained the story to Vijayendra Prasad garu, he asked why that part was taken out. He explained its importance and said the film needed that character for context and clarity. That's when I realised I was wrong, and we brought the character back. That’s how Mohanlal’s role was born."

"His entry scene, which lasts around two minutes, is a huge surprise that will shock the audience. It’s at this moment that the story really clicks," he added. Vishnu also hinted that a powerful dialogue by Mohanlal might be included in the film’s upcoming trailer.
