'It's tough to work with Prithviraj': Mohanlal reflects on Lucifer, Empuraan collaboration

Lucifer, one of the biggest hits in the history of Malayalam cinema, marked actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s directorial debut. As fans eagerly await the release of its highly anticipated sequel, 'Empuraan', superstar Mohanlal recently shared his experience of working under Prithviraj’s direction in an exclusive interview.
“Prithviraj is an amazing director. He knows about the equipment, lense, actors, and he will keep asking for shots until he is convinced. It is quiet tough to work with him because you have to surrender yourself to him. He will keep bothering you until he gets his shot. You can’t have ego.” he said.
Mohanlal’s directorial debut, 'Barroz', is set to hit theatres this Christmas.
Based on the novel by Jijo Punnoose, who also directed India's first 3D film My Dear Kuttichathan, Barroz promises a cinematic experience like no other.
The story follows Barroz, the guardian of Vasco da Gama's hidden treasure, who has loyally protected it for over 400 years. Mohanlal not only directs the film but also takes on the titular role, bringing this captivating character to life.
The film features an impressive ensemble cast. Guru Somasundaram, known for his remarkable performance in Minnal Murali, Tuhin Menon, and Cesar Laurent join Mohanlal in the lead roles. The movie also includes several nationally and internationally acclaimed actors.
Lydian Nadhaswaram, the winner of the American reality show 'The World's Best', has composed the music for Barroz. The original score is crafted by Mark Kilian. Renowned cinematographer Santhosh Sivan is behind the lens, while acclaimed art director Santhosh Raman designs the intricate sets, promising a visual spectacle.
The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.
